Chantall Award for Diabetes Awareness
- Presented annually to the Lions, Lioness or Leo Club
which best exemplifies the goals of Lions
Clubs International's Diabetes awareness program and the purpose
of the Canadian Diabetes Association in the areas of research, service,
advocacy, and education.
- The application is effective from July 1st to June 30th of the current
Lion's year.
- The completed application must be forwarded to the District Contests
and Awards chairman as soon as possible after the end of the Lion's year.
- 2005 winner:
Jesse Mackintosh Award for Blind Service
- Presented annually to the Lions or Lioness Club which
has gone out of their way to promote sight related projects or which has
made an outstanding contribution to blind welfare or sight conservation.
The following projects qualify for the award:
- sight conservation
- CNIB appeal for funds and other related requests
- Blind recreation activities
- Lions Eye Bank
- Campaign SightFirst or Journey for Sight
- Other sight related projects
- The application is effective from July 1st to June 30th. of the current
Lion's year.
- The completed application form must be forwarded to the district Contests
and Awards Chairman as soon as possible after the end the Lion's year.
- 2005 winner:
Robert Yates Award for hearing aid Collection
- Established in 2001 to honour annually the Lions or Lioness
Club which collects the most hearing aids for recycling.
- In order to equalize the various clubs, a special formula has been set
up for awarding of points.
- The application is effective once, from District Convention to District
Convention.
- The completed application form and hearing aids must be brought to the
District Contests and Awards chairman at the District Convention for purposes
of counting and tabulation.
- 2006 winner:
Roman Kozey Award for Eyeglass Collection
- Presented annually to the Lions or Lioness Club which collects the most
eyeglasses or lenses (in pairs) for recycling.
- In order to equalize the various clubs, a special formula has been set
up for awarding of points.
- The completed application form and glasses or lens (in pairs) must be
brought to the District Contests and Awards chairman at the District Convention
for purposes of counting and tabulation.
- 2006 winner:
Tabs for Tots Contest
- Presented annually to the Lions or Lioness Club that has collected and
sold the most aluminum to a local recycler.
- All aluminum items, except drink cans, are eligible for this contest.
- The application is effective from July 1st to June 30th of the current
Lion's year.
- The completed application along with the weight receipt and the cheque
received must be forwarded to the District Contests and Awards chairman
as soon as possible for tabulation purposes.
- Please do not bring aluminum to the District Convention.
- 2006 winner:
Wilf Ullrich Award for Blind Welfare
- Presented annually to the Lions or Lioness Club which has gone out
of their way to promote sight related projects or which has made an
outstanding contribution to blind welfare or sight conservation. The
following projects qualify for the award:
- sight conservation
- CNIB appeal for funds and other related requests
- Blind recreation activities
- Lions Eye Bank
- Campaign SightFirst or Journey for Sight
- Other sight related projects
- The application is effective from July 1st to June 30th. of the current
Lion's year.
- The completed application form must be forwarded to the district
Contests and Awards Chairman as soon as possible after the end the
Lion's year.
- 2005 winner:
Lions - Lioness Visitation Award
- Four awards presented annually to the club and the individual Lion/Lioness
having the most visitation kilometres per Lion's year. Visitations will
be credited for any one or more Lion/Lioness and club to any of the following
functions:
- Regular Lions/Lioness meetings
- Any Lion/Lioness sports or social event
- Any Convention or conference (where credit is given for KM's
traveled) up to 80 km beyond the boundaries of the District
- Any Zone meeting
- District Cabinet Officers or Club Officers km's travel cannot be
counted when on official business.
- Km's traveled by spouses of Lions/Lioness members may be included
on the application form.
- The application is effective from July 1st to June 30th of the current
Lion's year.
- The completed application must be forwarded to the District Contests
and Awards chairman as soon as possible after the end of the Lion's year.
